Stompa, as mentioned, make all sorts of different children’s beds from cots to small first time single beds for young children. The one I like the most is the Stompa Casa. This is not really a true bunk bed as it only has one berth and is more accurately a Stompa cabin bed, with one bunk on top and a small sofa unit and work desk area. The sofa unit is also a pull out sofa bed so technically I think it counts as a bunk bed! There’s good storage space under the sofa as well for that extra linen.

The upper bunk is raised up fairly high to allow enough room for the work area below so I would suggest that this bed is more practical for older children or teenagers, after all what would a four year old need a work desk for? This is a sleekly designed white bed that is a real space saver while also giving your children some real style and a sense of having quite a grown up space of their own.

If you like the Stompa style but need something for a younger child than the Stompa Luna cabin bed is also great and worth considering. Definitely designed with the younger child in mind this really cute bed is much lower to the ground and has lots of storage space both for bedding and all those toys. With pine surround and white paneling this is a really sweet bed but obviously limited in the number of years use you will get out of it for one child. Of course if you’re planning a large family it could last you quite a while.

Stompa is a highly regarded manufacturer with over twenty years experience of designing cabin beds as well as loft beds and a reputation for long lasting high quality. You don’t just have to plump for, my favorite, white as their beds come in a large range of colours.

The Internet has revolutionized our lives. There is nothing we can’t find or learn about. Fantastic right? Of course it is but there is a catch. The web is supposed to save you time, everything at the click of your mouse, but there is now so much information out there it can take you hours to trawl through all the sites offering you the white bunk beds you’re looking for.

Many of these sites offer the same products, so then you end up flicking back and forth trying to find the one offering the product you want at the cheapest price with the best delivery terms and prices or the best customers reviews.

By the time you’ve done all that it’s still a guess as to whether you’ve made the right choice. Sometimes you think it might have been easier to get in the car and drive to the mall where you can see the product in store. Defeats the whole purpose of shopping on line doesn’t it?

Ok, so I’ve set up this site to save you that time. I’ve already trawled through the sites so you don’t have to. The bunk beds I’ve found can all be purchased at Amazon which as we all know is the most reliable shopping site online. I haven’t yet found a white futon bunk bed that I like yet, but I’m on the case.

Which white bunkbeds will I find here?

What I’ve done here is to find three white bed sets each in a particular price band. That way there should be one product that suits your needs perfectly, both in terms of style and life span, but most importantly price. Now of course the white wood bunk beds I’ve chosen are the ones I think offer the best value. I’ve tried to find a cross section of the best white beds. Occasionally I find an option that you might not have considered, but at the end of the day these are my personal choices.

And as the saying goes you can please some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time! So I hope you like what I’ve found, but if you think I’ve missed something of particular interest then don’t be shy, let me know.

My approach is to find the type of product that is stylish and won’t go out of fashion tomorrow. I’ve also attempted to look for beds that offer practicality, as well as good looks, no matter what your budget. Finally I’ve looked for products made by quality manufacturers, within the description of each product there’s usually a little info about the company that makes it.

Finally a little word about bunk bed safety. If you take into account a few ground rules then your kids will be able to enjoy their new bed without any dramas. On the whole kids are pretty resilient but there’s no need to take any chances. It’s best not to choose a mattress that is more than eight inches thick as this is what the guardrails on most bunk beds are designed to accommodate. It’s not a good idea to put a child of under five on the top bed and you might want to consider putting a child who gets up a lot in the night on the bottom bunk.

Make it clear to your children that, while it’s fine to play on the beds, jumping up and down on them isn’t cool. Teach your child the right way to climb up the ladder and you might want to consider having a night light in the room. Other than that bunk beds for children are a great idea.

The trick is to look for a mid range priced product at a discounted price and to that end I would suggest this Linon Twin-Size bunk bed. It’s really not that different in style to my favorite choice, the Pacific Twin. Here we have a cool Shaker style bed that splits into two.

Don’t forget when looking for a cheaper option that we want something that is built to last, both in it’s construction but also it’s practicality. And here we have a piece of furniture that if looked after should last you from young children through to teenagers. And they have  enough class that they would also serve well as two separate tin beds for a guest bedroom if you so desire.

Constructed from Brazilian Pine these beds are both strong and sturdy. However it doesn’t look bulky or clumsy. It has a certain elegance to it with the curves of the top arches and it’s slim bars. It’s dimensions are 79.33″w x 42.52″d x 61.93″h and it should fit comfortably into most bedrooms.

It doesn’t have the really wow factor of some of my other selections, but they are great kids beds and have a simple clean quality to them and in white it will really liven up your children’s bedroom if you also pick out some fucky bedroom chairs.

The real bonus about this bunk bed is that Amazon are selling the Linon at a fantastic discount, which means your getting much more for your money. With a list price of $645 this twin bunk bed is a bargain at $291.99. It’s well built, looks good and will last. And again could end up serving you well as two separate twin beds in a guest room.

The Pacific Twin white wood bunk bed from BunksNStuff is, therefore, my favorite find, meeting all the criteria I have for a piece of quality furniture. The version I am focusing on here is the twin white bunk bed with drawers below. At $1,148 it is, as I mentioned above, towards the top of the mid range as far as price goes, but that’s what I would go for.

There are different versions of this unit so you can bring the price down considerably, if you are prepared to forgo some of the features. Lose the storage draws, or go for the twin over twin bed option, and the cost comes down noticeably. Which ever way you go though you will be buying a quality bed.

For a start the Pacific Twin is made out of a solid hardwood called Rubberwood. This plantation grown hardwood comes, as the name suggests, from the Rubber Tree which is itself part of the Maple tree family and is also, equally importantly, eco-friendly. The mattress slats are also constructed from hardwood which is a real plus and means you won’t need a bunkie board. The last thing you want is broken slats the minute your angel jumps on the bed with a little too much vigor.

This self assembled unit comes with a 10 year manufacturer’s warranty and has the following dimensions – 83.25”L x 59.75″W x 67.50″H. BunksNStuff are hot on safety and all their beds are made to industry safety standards.

Another great feature for longevity is the ability to separate the bunk bed into two individual twin beds. Perfect when your children get a bit older and don’t find bunk beds quite as cool as they once did!

I like the simple lines and grooves of this bed, in fact I like the overall design and think it has plenty of style which won’t go out of fashion anytime soon. And, of course, I think it’s cool in white.

Ok, so not all of us will be able to afford this fabulous white bunk bed, but great design and functionality, which this piece of furniture has in spades, come at a cost and, as with most things, you get what you pay for.

This bed is my top end choice for those with a sizable budget. I believe it has everything that a top quality piece of children’s furniture should have. Shown here with a white finish, also available in five other laminate finishes, there are some great features for either girls or boys.

There is a desk area, which can be ordered to the right or left of the bed, and can serve either as a vanity, study area, entertainment centre or bookcase. It comes fully fitted with three drawers, a display shelf and keyboard storage area . Furthermore you will find a surge protector, phone jacket outlets and light  fixture built in. And if that wasn’t enough how about a television rack that pulls out and swivels!

As it is not permanently attached to the side of the bed it can, if you wish, be placed anywhere in the room. This is a great feature as it allows you versatility as you will be able to fit it into any number of different shaped bedrooms.

This unit can also be adapted, before ordering, to allow either a twin sized bed over a full sized bed or a twin over twin bed depending on the age and requirements of your children. Again storage or trundle draws are available to go under the lower bed.

This is definitely a piece of kit with some longevity, both very young and preteen children will love it. One really nice touch is the unique stair system which, I think, not only looks great but has the bonus of being more safety conscious than the normal side ladder.

The quality of materials are another strong plus point. Made from organic and natural engineered wood there are no worries over warping or stability. The finish is resistant to scratching and is easy to clean.

Berg Furniture are a family owed business with a great CV and history. They have been making furniture since 1984 and have grown from strengh to strength. Always associated with innovative design they made the decision, in 1995, to focus and specialize in children’s furniture.

So for those with a decent budget this is definetly one to consider.

Children love to play and climb around, wherever they are, so why not provide them with something to do when they’re in their own room. There are certainly some rules you will want to lay down when it comes to your kids using the beds safely, but once they understand the ground rules they’re ready to start having fun. Soon they’ll be building forts and castles and playing cowboys and Indians or prince’s and fair maidens!

So with this in mind it also stands to reason that a bunk bed will help, to some extent, in building bonds between your kids. We’re always delighted when our children learn to play together, if for no other reason than it keeps them out of our hair some of the time! Seriously though, if your offspring have a room where they feel secure and entertained, in their own private space, then that can only be a good thing.

Here are a couple of other factors to consider. Choose both a sturdy model and one of decent quality. Kids are kids and if you want your new purchase to last longer than six months then you’d better make sure it’s up to the job. This is why I advise that, if you can afford it, you don’t opt for the cheapest bunk bed available. You want something that doesn’t move around when you give it a good shake, make sure those joints are solid, and you want a bed that has been made out of quality materials, not some cheap chip board with a fine coat of paint; this is doubly true if you are considering a platform bed. Solid wood beds are always the best.

Make sure you also get you tape measure out and determine how much room you have for this bed. Yes, bunk beds save you space, but they also come in many different dimensions and you’re going to feel a little foolish if you make an expensive purchase only to find that your space saving idea doesn’t even fit into your room.

Will your bunk bed separate into two separate beds at a later stage? You know how quickly your kids grow out of their clothes, well they’re going to grow out of their bunkbeds as well, not necessarily literally, but in time they will want a separate bed or possibly a separate room. Consider a bunk bed that splits into two when that day comes.
